Herschell-Spillman Carousel

The Herschell-Spillman Carousel is located at Children's Playground in Golden Gate Park. It was built in 1912 and powered by steam until 1915 when Pacific Gas and Electric offered to loan an electric motor to the merry-go-round if the park would carry the remaining expense. The carousel was restored in 1984.
