The Sharon Cottage, located at Children's Playground, was completed in 1887 and named for Senator William Sharon whose generous bequest made posible construction of the playground. The large Romanesque building was severely damaged in the 1909 earthquake, and again in 1978 after a fire. The building is now home to the Sharon Art Studio.
