George Washington Elm Tree

Under the parent of this tree, General George Washington first took command of the American Army. The date was July 3, 1775. The tree was planted by the San Francisco Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution in 1952. It is located just west of the Conservatory of Flowers on John F. Kennedy Drive.
