Strybing Arboretum and Botanical Gardens was established in 1940 using money from a fund bequeathed to Golden Gate Park by Helene Strybing 14 years earlier following her death. With over 7500 kinds of plants on over 70 acres, the arboretum is a botanical treasure waiting to be discovered by curious visitors. For more information, call 415-661-1316.

A large grassy meadow located a little beyond the main entrance to Strybing Arboretum, is an enticing destination for families looking to picnic or have a brief rest before continuing on their garden walks. Free daily tours are offered by the Strybing Arboretum Society. Among the many sections in the arboretum, visitors will find several Japanese style gardens and reflecting ponds. Nearby benches and walking paths will further the exploring experience.

The New World Cloud Forest emulates existing conditions from those regions. Several walking paths provide easy access for closer inspection of plant life.
