Rose Garden
Return to map

The Rose Garden in Golden Gate Park is located between John F. Kennedy Drive and Park Presidio Drive. The San Francisco chapter of the American Rose Society chose this site in 1961 as a suitable place for testing roses in the city. There are over sixty rose beds planted with trial varieties supplied by commercial growers and maintained by local growers.

The garden is a public demonstration garden with many rose varieties blooming all year round. Peak bloom occurs throughout the summer. The San Francisco Rose Society offers a pruning demonstration at the garden in early January.
